Mount Apps Snowshoe Trek

Another day in paradise! I’m sure that’s definitely true for some parts of the island, but it sure wasn’t on the summit!

Ascending from the snowline (750m) we used snowshoes to follow old snowmobile tracks up the last 3 kms of logging road and onto the summit. While we had mist, fog and eventual hints of sunshine on the way up, the summit was a different story. None of our large group with comfortable in the blasting wind and ice pellets that greeted us as we ascended to the highest point of our trip. After pausing only briefly for a group shot, we descended to the shelter of a large boulder and copes of trees below the summit.

Lunch is always more delicious in the mountains, and my hot coffee tasted less bitter, but the wind was biting, and we quickly descended back to the cars.
