Mount Regan is not a summit that gets a lot of visitors. One way to get there would take most people two or three days and has its own challenges. Luckily, we had an access agreement to get past a locked gate and could access the easier North Ridge route.
This route is steep. In 4km there was 1050m or so of elevation gain with no loss. The route is well marked at times, hard to find and overgrown with no flagging at others. On the way up we didn’t take the easiest path but it lead us to a little ledge where we enjoyed a break.

Once out of the forest and into the alpine the way up Regan is a little more relaxed. There was a walk through a meadow, a bit of steep snow and a rocky summit block. The summit block was the only real challenge at the end. The rocks weren’t stable so good footing and rockfall were an issue.

We made it to the summit and enjoyed our lunch with a great view of Strathcona Park. We were the first group on this summit for 2025.
Mount Albert Edward is a short distance away and we could see multiple large groups there probably wondering how we got to our summit.

We worked our way back down the ridge and to the forest finding a much better route down and avoiding some parts that would have been a bit tricky.
It was a great day to be out.
It took the group slightly less than 8 hours for the trip.
