Cruickshank Canyon Loop

July 4th, 2020

Seven of us left from the Paradise Meadows trailhead at 08.45hrs under mixed skies.

The route for the day took us up the west side of Lake Helen Mackenzie past the
ranger’s cabin and east of Hairtrigger Lake before swinging westward to the trail junction for the Cruikshank lookout.

Conditions were good with sections of the outer end of the trail very wet and, in places, muddy.  Passing through the meadows is always a highlight.

A quick photo stop at the lookout and back to the creek at Lake Beautiful for lunch. A straightforward return to the trailhead via the Kwai Lake – Battleship Lake trail.

By extending the route beyond Hairtrigger Lake we stretched the day to just shy of 23km, depending of course on which electronic device you trust, and we were all on our way home by just after 16.00hrs.

Welcome to Kendra R and Sherron S, two new members of the Island Mountain Ramblers.
