We parked at the trailhead for the new approach to the Main Gulley route. Conditions we’re fairly good; overcast/foggy weather, light snow on the ground turning into a supportive crust.
We brought snowshoes but didn’t use them. This was Evan’s first mountaineering experience, so we briefly practiced self-arrest just before the gulley. Conditions on the gulley were fairly good.
The snow was a bit hard/icy, but we were able to kick in steps with enough support the whole way. No issues. Made it to the top of Arrowsmith then down-climbed and returned to the car.
Total moving time was about 5.5 hours. We had a blast 🙂
