Mt. Prevost

Six of us headed out on our trip to Mt. Prevost on Saturday.  The weather said sun and cloud; we were all hoping to catch the beautiful views of the valley when we reached the summit.  Fingers crossed!  The wind was blowing with quite a bluster and it was lovely to get started by jumping quickly into the protection of the trees.

Bings Creek to Mt. Prevost Hike

Having had this described as one of the best hikes in Cowichan, I had to find out for myself!
The route has quite the views on the way up. and is quite the thigh burner.
We turned around at the top of the false summit as it was easy walking to there. With nothing to prove and the weather in the high 20’s, we both agreed that turning around then and there was still a fine day!

Leading a hike is the easy part. Answering all the emails for weeks before, keeping track of the cancelations and additions, figuring out car-pooling, waivers forms, etc… are the hard things lol.

Fifteen hikers came out to the Mt Prevost Hike on March 23. We had 8 members and quite a few potential members. For me it is always a delight to lead, I enjoy meeting new people, and share our mountains with new people.

Mt. Prevost

The hike to Mt Prevost April 21 was great. I combined this hike with the Outdoor Club of Victoria, when I saw that so many were signing up, (but I didn’t want to say no to anyone). I asked Ray Billings to help out and it worked out great.

We had 19 people and we split the group.
