Nahmint Mountain from North East Ridge

For years, Nahmint Mountain was one of those peaks lingering on my bucket list that I never quite got around to climbing. It’s not even an especially long drive — just over two hours from home. Maybe it was the horror stories people share about the heinous bushwhack. Truthfully, though, it had more to do with my hiking partners. My usual partners had already climbed it, and I never seemed able to find people brazen enough to face down the bush.

And yet, this trip marked my fourth ascent of the peak in just two years.

Lost and Found: A Return to Nahmint’s East Ridge

After the disappointing loss of my axe in early April, I vowed to return and reclaim it. Having been up the east ridge twice in the past six months, and feeling confident about where I had dropped the axe, I was sure we’d find it! Familiar with the terrain, I invited a larger group of club members to join the adventure.

Nahmint Mountain

Nahmint Mountain has been on my bucket list for a long time, but there always seem to be bigger and more important mountains to tackle than this peak. The main issue is that the trip reports I’ve read discuss how long the trip is, and it’s difficult to find people who are interested in doing exceptionally long days. I’m happy to report that we used a route that got us back to the vehicle within eight hours.
