In an attempt to blow out the holiday duff, twelve members headed out for a hike that the club hasn’t hosted since 2011, the upper portion of the Cowichan River. It was well worth the adventure!

Aug 21-26, 2021 John Young led a trip to explore many sections of the Cape Scott Provincial Park. Check out his blog for a fantastic album and trip report (Google - John Young smugmug) or head over to our website and check it out in the Timberline Tales tab This trip had such variety, well trodden trails, seaside scrambling, old growth forest, broad vistas, historic sites, sunshine, rain, secluded beaches and more visited ones. And I was so fortunate to share it with such wonderful companions!

Aug 28, Matthew led a trip to grab a club Ridge Rambler objective up Wesley Ridge. A club classic and always a great day! ⛰️⛰️ Another fine day on the high ridges of Vancouver Island! Six members total participated in a traverse of Wesley Ridge on August 28th. This is a much-loved hike for the club and is one of the club's Ridge Rambler objectives. Ken and Maggie had no takers (️shocker️) yesterday on a incredibly wet day up Camas Ridge, with stops at Old Thistle Mine and Christie Falls. Stay tuned as I catch my lazy butt up on plenty of club trips that have happened since the last post. ️

Sunday May 29, 2022 Mr. Lettington led a group of 7 to Mt Irwin, they chose to go over Mt Hal to get there. What a day. This one kicked my butt a bit. I went on this trip with the Island Mountain Ramblers. A few of the people from my first club trip were here again, so it was nice to have some familiar faces. El Presidente the one and only Mr. John Young led a trip of 8 Ramblers over 7 days on the Nootka Island trail, taking in the glorious terrain and even putting in some trail work whilst there. ------------------------------------- RAMBLING ALONG NOOTKA ISLAND The western shore of Nootka Island has been designated as a Sensitive Area since 2003, with the area providing non-exclusive recreational use of the trail area. May 30, 2022 Matthew led a group of 5 up to the summit of Springer Peak in the Prince of Wales range ---------------------------- What a day in the mountains! The Prince of Wales range never ceases to offer top-notch hikes and scrambles! This was my third trip to the summit. I hosted it because members tell us that they are interested in learning mountaineering skills. This peak offers some great opportunities to practice various skills while providing relative safety. Was the weather perfect? No, but it's the best I've had on this mountain. Were the views great? No, but again

April 23, 2022 Joanna led her first club trip and 3 other members came along! ⛰️ Beautiful day with the perfect weather. Ended up with a total of 18kms and 855 m elevation gain. Took us seven hours to complete, an hour longer than I had originally predicted. But I’m going to blame it all on the perfect weather and scenery for photo ops, great company and the added perk of having no line ups for the two swings on the trail. We really enjoyed all the swinging that we did .

July 1, 2022 John Robertson led a group of 3 to Buffalo Hump and Whiskey Jack Creek The weather was perfect for a day's hiking. We made swift work if the 5kms on roads to the base of Buffalo Hump mountain. A slightly novel approach at the start led to heavier-than-expected bushwhacking, some extemporized scrambling, and a bit of profanity.
