It was a glorious day spent up Mount DeCosmos, November 8th. We had a group of 12 members out to enjoy the bright sun, cool air, and magnificent views.
We approached via F-Branch and from the west side of the Mountain. Parking at 1200 metres allowed for a quick ascent of the west summit, and then a lovely hike through some of the last old-growth remaining on the mountain.
Mostly easy hiking, a bit bushy in places, and exceptionally cold, we reached the forestry towers for a nice lunch in the sun. I pulled a major parent foul and found that the lunches were left at home. The group rallied a fine scavenger’s lunch, and the kids feasted on treats, sandwiches and hot chocolate.

I climbed Mount De Cosmos with the Vancouver Island Ramblers back in 1968ish. Lots of snow I remember.
Thanks for sharing, John. I’ll wager that was a very different trip from today. There’s not much of the old-growth left on that mountain.
