Maple Mountain Ramble on Jan 9th 2022, turned out to be a beautiful sunny day with freezing temperatures to start. From the nine we had in the group (some were from the OCV club) many had never started from the Southview trailhead.
As a leader there are many options starting from here and I never decide which way I will go till I see who I have with me. I made a circle route taking in many spectacular views, and having lunch on the summit. The hike was 4.5 hours, 9km and just under 500m. There was still a fair amount of snow near the summit but snowshoes were not needed. I loved meeting new members, and learning from them. It brought a smile to my face when someone said to me, “ I just can’t believe how you just knew your way, never looking at a gadget once, and we went in all kinds of directions.”
Thanks to all those that came, and gave me an opportunity to hike with you.
